2006 after I had maintained a weight goal for nearly 6 years I decided
to gamble it all in order to prove to myself that I could trust myself
around food. I couldn't imagine going to my grave one day still fearing
food. So I decided to take on an experiment and see if I could learn how to trust myself around all foods. That's right. No more dieting for me. So I swore off dieting and I decided that I was going to learn to listen to my body and eat intuitively. The only thing is that my body was constantly demanding food. It was a never-ending onslaught of chocolate, cheeseburgers, ice cream, pie, cakes, pizza, all the things that I couldn't eat while dieting. I gave into every craving, every desire and every food. I felt like an animal that had been let out of a cage. I couldn't stop eating. For over a year I watched helplessly as the pounds piled on, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35,... Then one day after I had an incredible insight, I decided to put on my coach hat, do something different and the weight gain stopped dead in its tracks. Since then that insatiable aching, screeching, raging hunger that drove me to want to eat all the time has become a mere whisper. That humbling experience with weight gain, led me to discover a method of making peace with food and loving my body that really works.
