When it feels like your heart is breaking...

I just left a call with two very special women who are both colleagues and dear friends. At this time, all three of us are going through a great deal of pain in our lives and and we're all being challenged to release parts of our past and create new meaning for our futures.

One of the women had this to say about her experience,

"My soul is relieved, my heart feels heavy and broken, and my mind is hysterical."

I thought about it and realized that her words summed up my feelings also. Yet unlike before, I'm not glued to my refrigerator or hating myself.

Food used to be my only coping mechanism to deal with stress. Not anymore. Today I have tools that help me to slow down and benefit from my negative emotions.

Let me ask you, how valuable would it be, to know that you can actually benefit from those hurt, angry, sad, jealous and painful thoughts that bombard you especially when you're feeling hardest hit. In a few weeks, I'll be teaching a teleclass to share this process with you, but for now,

Here's a beautiful poem that my mother once shared with me. I'd like to offer it to you to inspire you to keep on shining your light.

Don't Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh
When care is pressing you down a bit
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns
As every one of us sometimes learns
And many a fellow turns about
When he might have won, had he stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man;
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor's cup;
And he learned too late when the night came down
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt
And you never can tell how close you are
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit
It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit.
